Hospitalfield Workshop for Schools

How might one write essays that might take objects to generate work that conveys a sense of the presentness of an encounter—a relationship—rather an offer mere information?

School pupils participating in the creative writing workshops at the main conference were divided into three separate groups and given some time to explore the rooms and grounds of Hospitalfield as inspiration for their writing. Some were invited to read short fragments of specially chosen texts, and tasked with stitching their own in-situ writing with lines from these texts. We to see how creative writing might be sparked from reading, and built on the stories that others had already put in place.
